High Lonesome Lyrics

Just you and me and a little white pup
Sittin' here waiting for the sun to come up
To keep the chill awayDrinkin' our coffee at the first crack of dawn
Watchin' a doe while she nuzzles her fawn
It's my favorite time of dayHigh lonesome
God don't ever let this mountain change
High lonesome
I hope you will always stay the sameSometimes in the evening when it's all kind of still
Sweet mountain music floats over the hill
On a laurel scented breezeSometimes when the night birds are scolding the mist
I think I might know where Heaven is
It's just above the treesHigh lonesome
God don't ever let this mountain change
High lonesome
I hope you will always stay the sameWatchin' my summertimes turn in to falls
Seein' my song growing honest and tall
Keeps me satisfiedIf I live forever or I die today
All I would ask is you just let me lay here

On this mountainsideHigh lonesome
High lonesome
High lonesome

The Charlie Daniels Band is an American country and southern rock band led by Charlie Daniels. The Charlie Daniels Band was formed in 1970, with Charlie Daniels joined by Barry Barnes (guitar), Mark Fitzgerald (bass), Fred Edwards and Gary Allen (drums), and Taz DiGregorio (keyboards). They started recording southern rock-styled albums for Kama Sutra. Although a multi-instrumentalist, Daniels was a limited vocalist, but his voice was well suited to the talking-style "Uneasy Rider", which reached the US Top 10 in 1973.
