High and Dry Lyrics

Tell me a story 'bout how you been burned
No one can hurt you, your lessons you've learned
All for the lover with stars in his eyes
Feelin' the pain of all his bye-byes
Feelin' the pain of all his bye-byesHigh and dry, high and dryI could tell you things just ain't the same
Look all around you, there's no one to blame
There is a reason for all those years
You do less cryin', there'll be fewer tears
You do less cryin', there'll be fewer tearsHigh and dry, high and dryYou know the road doesn't end
When it reaches, reaches a bendHigh and dry, high and dryI could tell you things just ain't the same
Look all around you, there's no one to blame
Theree is a reason for all those years
You do less cryin', there'll be fewer tears
You do less cryin', there'll be fewer tearsHigh and dry, high and dry
High and dry, high and dry

Poco, founded in 1968 by Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Richie Furay and Jim Messina (both inducted 1997 with Buffalo Springfield), was one of the earliest in the "country rock" genre that was later commercially popularized by bands such as the Eagles. The band was completed by Rusty Young (pedal steel guitar, dobro, banjo and mandolin) Randy Meisner on bass and George Grantham on drums. Poco's 1969 debut, "Pickin' Up the Pieces" (the title being a reference to the break-up of Buffalo Springfield), received some critical acclaim but generated very litttle enthusiasm commercially.
