History Erased Lyrics

On the heels of the sons of hell
The viper defines it's path
How many times have you sworn to God
That you would forget your past? You're spreading lies and taking lives
He stands beside and laughs
Well this son of hell won't lastYour fortress will fall
History can't be undone but it can be erased
Your fortress will fall
History can't be undone but it can be erasedInside, your heart is made of stone
And slowly it begins to break
You feel the chills run up your spine
And they crawl upon your neckYou're spreading lies and taking lives
He stands beside and laughs
Well this son of hell won't lastYour fortress will fall
History can't be undone but it can be erased
Fortress without walls
History can't be undone but it can be erasedHistory can't be undone but it can be erased
History can't be undone but it can be erasedInside, your heart is made of stone

And one day it will break
Now their hearts have turned to stone
With promises you breakYour fortress will fall
History can't be undone but it can be erased
Fortress without walls
History can't be undone but it can be erasedHistory can't be undone but it can be erased
History can't be undone but it can be erased

It won't take long for listeners of Spoken's sixth studio album to be reminded of how hard and fast the band can rock. The three songs that open the album, "History Erased," "Close Your Eyes" and "Not Soon Forgotten," start things off with nine minutes of blazing fast guitar riffs and loud and quick-rising vocals, all bounded by a full-sounding rhythm section. After two albums for Tooth and Nail where the band explored more anthemic avenues, the quintet found itself re-examining its hard rock and metal roots on its third record for the label.
