Honky Tonk Blues Lyrics

Well I left my home down
On a rural route
I told my papa
I'm goin' steppin' outForget the honky tonk blues
Yeah the honky tonk blues
Yeah Lord I got 'em
I got the honky tonk bluesWell I went to a dance
And wore out my shoes
Woke up this mornin'
Wishin' I could loseThat jumpin' honky tonk blues
The weary honky tonk blues
Yeah Lord I got 'em
I got the honky tonk bluesWell I stopped into
Every place in town
This city life has
Really got me downI got the honky tonk blues
Yeah the honky tonk blues
Yeah Lord I got 'em

I got the honky tonk bluesGonna tuck my worries
Underneath my arm
Step right back
To my pappy's farmForget the honky tonk blues
Yeah the honky tonk blues
Yeah Lord I got 'em
I got the honky tonk bluesDon't wanna be bothered
With the honky tonk blues

The group's membership has had at least a dozen iterations over the years, including five years, between "Dirt, Silver & Gold" (1976) and "Let's Go" (1983), when the band performed and recorded as The Dirt Band. The band's best-known song was a 1970 cover of Jerry Jeff Walker's folk song "Mr. Bojangles".
