How Insensitive (Insensatez) Lyrics

How insensitive I must have seemed
When she told me that she loved me
How unmoved and cold I must have seemed
When she told me so sincerelyWhy, she must have asked
Do I just turn and stare in icy silence?
What was I to say
What can you say when a love affair is over? Now, she's gone away
And I'm alone with a memory of her last look
Vague and drawn and sad, I see it still
All her heartbreak in that last lookHow, she must have asked
Could I just turn and stare in icy silence?
What was I to do?What can one do when a love affair is over?
What can you do when a love affair is over?
It's over

Oscar Peterson (1925-2007) was a Canadian jazz pianist and composer. Born in Montreal, Canada, Peterson began learning trumpet and piano from his father at the age of five, but by the age of seven, after a bout of tuberculosis, he concentrated on the piano. Some of the artists who influenced Peterson during the early years were Teddy Wilson, Nat "King" Cole, James P. Johnson, and the legendary Art Tatum, to whom many have tried to compare Peterson in later years.
