How Long Is This Time Gonna Be Lyrics

Phone rings, middle of the night
I fumble through the fog to find the light
I here your voice at the end of the line sayin'
"Baby, we can make it work this time"It's not that I don't believe that it's so
There's just one thing I need to know
So baby won't you tell meHow long is this time gonna be
Till you decide that you wanna be free
How long is this time gonna take
Till I'm lyin' awake with another heartache
How long is this time gonna be, yeahYou look like an angel, standin' at my door
Just as beautiful as every time before
You know my heart like the back of your hand
And what I wouldn't do to have you love me againBut one more fall is all I can take
So have mercy on me
For heaven's sake and tell meHow long is this time gonna be
Till you decide to fly away from me
How long is this time gonna last
Till someone new puts me back in your past

How long is this time gonna beMy foolish mind wants you back in my bed
But my better judgment's still shakin' its head
Baby, you make it so hard to be strong
I want so bad to believe this night can make it all rightOh, but what if I'm wrong
So please tell meHow long is this time gonna be
Till you turn around and walk out on me
How long till this time has to end
And you leave my life in pieces againHow long is this time gonna hurt
If you decide forevers never gonna work, girl
How long is this time gonna be
Baby tell me how long is this time gonna be, yeahI know I shouldn't but I will
I can't hide the way I feel
Tell me this time that it's realHow long

Steve Azar was born and raised in Greenville, Mississippi at the entrance to the Mississippi Delta. His mother was raised above the family grocery store located on Highway 61 in Clarksdale, MS near the infamous “Crossroads”. “The Crossroads” is the intersection of Route 61 and Route 49, or the 61/49 split as they call it there, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, made famous in the Robert Johnson song, “Cross Road Blues”. This is where Delta Blues legend Robert Johnson supposedly sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for mastery of the blues, or so the story goes.
