I Can't Give You Anything But Love Lyrics

Gee, but it's tough to be broke kid
It's not a joke kid, it's a curse,
My luck is changing, it's gotten from
Simply rotten to something worstWho knows, someday I will win too
I'll begin to reach my pride
Now, that I see what our end is
All can spend is just my timeI can't give you anything but love, baby
That's the only thing I've plenty of, baby, dream a while
Scheme a while, we're sure to find happiness
And I guess all those things you've always pined forGee, I'd like to see you looking swell, my little baby
Diamond bracelets, Woolworth's doesn't sell, baby
Till that lucky day you know darn well, baby
I can't give you anything but love

Ella Jane Fitzgerald (April 25, 1917 in Newport News, VA – June 15, 1996), also known as Lady Ella (the First Lady of Song), was one of the most influential jazz singers of the 20th Century, the winner of thirteen Grammy Awards, the National Medal of Art presented by President Ronald Reagan and the Presidential Medal of Freedom presented by President George H. W. Bush. Gifted with a three-octave vocal range, she was noted for her purity of tone, near faultless phrasing and intonation, and a "horn-like" improvisational ability, particularly in her scat singing.
