I Don't Want to Be Alone Tonight Lyrics

Advisory - the following lyrics contain explicit language:
(Shel Silverstein)Your phone's gonna ring in the darkness of night
And you'll rise from the bed where you lay
And you'll answer 'Hello', and from out of the past
A voice you once loved is gonna sayI don't wanna be alone tonight, I don't wanna be alone
And I had to call someone who used to care
I don't wanna be alone tonight, I don't wanna be alone
So say that you still want me and I'll be thereMaybe someday you'll lie there and look at the rain
Feeling afraid and alone
Feeling of hunger you just can't explain
And you'll be the voice on the phoneI don't wanna be alone tonight, I don't wanna be alone

And I had to call someone who used to care
I don't wanna be alone tonight, I don't wanna be alone
So say that you still want me and I'll be thereI don't wanna be alone tonight, I don't wanna be alone
And I had to call someone who used to care
I don't wanna be alone tonight, I don't wanna be alone
So say that you still want me and I'll be there(c)1978 Tro-Essex Music Ltd.

Dr. Hook (& The Medicine Show) were formed in Union City, New Jersey, USA in 1968. The original lineup consisted of Ray Sawyer, Dennis Locorierre, Bill Francis, John David and George Cummings - although there were countless lineup changes over the years.

Two years after Sawyer left in 1983 the band split up. Since then Sawyer has begun touring as "Dr Hook featuring Ray Sawyer" and Locorierre has also promoted himself as "The voice of Dr Hook".

Trivia: In a live webcast performance from Atlanta Bon Jovi performed "Sylvia's Mother" by Dr Hook - declaring the song "One we should have written".
