I Gave Her Comfort Lyrics

To think that I'm the kind of guy whoever could have kept her
Would be taking too much credit on myself
And seeing us together you just knew
That she'd look better with somebody elseAnd now she's gone, no one's surprised
Least of all not me
I always knew that I was just a comfort
In her time of needJust a comfort, just a comfort in her time
I gave her comfort in her time of need
Gave her comfort, gave her comfort in her time
I gave her comfort in her time of needYou know that we had plans for San Francisco in September
But I didn't see California in her eyes
And by the end of summer, someone made a better offer
You know, I'm not surprisedAnd now she's gone, no one's surprised
Least of all not me
I always knew that I was just a comfort
In her time of needJust a comfort, just a comfort in her time
I gave her comfort in her time of need
Gave her comfort, gave her comfort in her time

I gave her comfort in her time of needJust a quick goodbye
Nobody's crying, no, nobody's crying
I always knew that I was just a comfort
In her time of needAnd now she's gone, no one's surprised
Least of all not me
I always knew that I was just a comfort
In her time of needJust a comfort, just a comfort in her time
I gave her comfort in her time of need
Gave her comfort, gave her comfort in her time
I gave her comfort in her time of need

Dr. Hook (& The Medicine Show) were formed in Union City, New Jersey, USA in 1968. The original lineup consisted of Ray Sawyer, Dennis Locorierre, Bill Francis, John David and George Cummings - although there were countless lineup changes over the years.

Two years after Sawyer left in 1983 the band split up. Since then Sawyer has begun touring as "Dr Hook featuring Ray Sawyer" and Locorierre has also promoted himself as "The voice of Dr Hook".

Trivia: In a live webcast performance from Atlanta Bon Jovi performed "Sylvia's Mother" by Dr Hook - declaring the song "One we should have written".
