I Guess I'll Get The Papers & Go Home Lyrics

Yes, I guess I'll get the papers and go home
Like I've been doin' ever since we've been apart
I get some consolation when I read
Of someone else's lonely heart, yes
I wonder if you get the papers too
And if you feel as melancholy as I do
Until you in my arms again, never more to roam
I guess I'll get the papers and go home, yes
I guess I'll get the papers and go home
Like I've been doin' ever since we've been apart, yes
I get some consolation when I read
Of someone else's lonely heart
I wonder if you get the papers too
And if you feel as melancholy as I do
Baby, till you in my arms again, never more to roam
I guess I'll get the papers and go home
Babe, I guess I'll get the papers and go home

Louis Armstrong (1901-1971) was a trumpet player, singer, and bandleader, and is widely regarded as one of the most influential artists in the history of jazz. Armstrong was born and brought up in New Orleans, a culturally diverse town with a unique musical mix of creole, ragtime, marching bands, and blues. Although from an early age he was able to play music professionally, he didn't travel far from New Orleans until 1922, when he went to Chicago to join his mentor, King Oliver.
