I Stand Accused Lyrics

I stand accused of loving you too much
I hope, I sure hope it's not a crime
'Cause I'm guiltyOh, I hope that I never have to testify
If I do, everyone's gonna cry
That boy is guilty of loving youAnd though you belong to another
And I may not stand a ghost of a chance
I'll tell the world that I love you
And I'm a victim of circumstance
That's been proven guilty, oh, yes, I amDid you know one touch of your hand
And I find myself on the witness stand
Shouting out all over the land
Hey, hey, I'm guilty, guilty of living you

Percy Sledge (born 25 November 1941 in Leighton, Alabama) is a US-American R&B and soul performer. Percy Sledge worked in the fields in Leighton before he worked as an orderly at Colbert County Hospital in Sheffield. By the mid-1960s, Sledge was touring the Southeast with the Esquires Combo on weekends and working at the hospital. A former patient who was a friend of producer Quin Ivy introduced the two, an audition followed, and Sledge was signed to a recording contract.
