I Wanna Know Why - Bhagavad Guitars

The Bhagavad Guitars formed in the late 1980’s and had a number of well regarded releases, working with producers like Kevin “Caveman” Shirley (Silverchair), Phil Punch (Beasts of Bourbon) and Tony Cohen (Nick Cave). Their big budget debut record was kept unreleased for five years after being tied up in an international record label bidding war.
Throughout the 1990’s, The Bhagavad Guitars played with international acts The Jesus and Mary Chain, Straightjacket Fits and the Verlaines, toured Australia twice with Ireland’s Hothouse Flowers, as well as playing with diverse bands such as The Go Betweens, Lubricated Goat, The Triffids, Died Pretty, Hummingbirds, Jenny Morris, Underground Lovers, Clouds, and the Cruel Sea.
After reconnecting at the funeral of a good friend, the band reformed in 2010, recording a new album with producer Nick Mainsbridge. The title Unfamiliar Places is taken from the album opus, dealing with their loss and celebrating their friend's life.
`Unfamiliar Places' sounds fresh, energetic, dynamic and relevant, emphasising well-crafted songs while maintaining the trademark chiming guitars and soaring harmonies that previously defined the band.
