I Would Never Lyrics

I have walked a thousand miles
I have worked as fast as I can
And I have raised my precious child
To be a womanI have walked up and down
I have wandered from place to place
And I have raised my weary hand
To my faceBut I would never
Turn my back
On your loveIs there anybody there who knows me?
Is there any body there who knows me now?
That I will be home soonBut I would never
Turn my back
On your loveWhen the sun is going down
There are colors against the sky
And I have seen my home town
In your eyesBut I would never
Turn my back
Yeah, I'm learning

To face the factsAnd I'd never
Turn my back
On your loveYour love, your love
Your love, your loveNo, I'd never
Turn my back
On your love, your love
Your love, your love

Anna Lila Downs Sánchez was born in Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca, Mexico in 1968, and grew up there and in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She began singing ranchera music at an early age, and later sang at the fiestas of the towns in her mountain region, la Mixteca. She sang with the band Los Cadetes de Yodoyuxi and later with La Trova Serrana, a group of folk musicians from the Zapotec town of Guelatao, oaxaca. At that time she met her musical collaborator Paul Cohen and began to create her own musical compositions, which tap into native Mesoamerican music of the Mixtec, Zapotec, Maya and Nahuatl cultures.
