If I Can't Have You (Edit) Lyrics

To say it's love would be too simple
Too obvious
It's more like a calling, a vocation
Something I wasPut on this earth to do
Now I'm shooting with the stars
And I'm flying with the angels
And my heartbeat is a symphony theCloser I get to you
I never saw you comin' till you
Came and here you are
I never thought someoneWould ever dare
To come this far
You're up for the resistance
And I'm strong in my persistenceAnd I've never known
A remedy like ours
If I can't have you
If I can't have youI would be a river dried up
Into dust
I would be imprisoned

For ever having lovedIf I can't have you
I don't wanna be me
Then I would be the same man
You scraped off the groundI'd have to go back bein'
That broken soul you found
Those days are in the darkness
I buried them with hardnessAnd I'd have to dig those
Demons out
Your life is like anchor that puts
Me in my placeNo you won't let me sink when
I'm off losin' my way
Thank God for your virtue
And the wisdom in your eyeCause somehow you
Get through on
All that crazy in my mind
If I can't have youIf I can't have you
I would be a river
Dried up into dust
I would be imprisoned for neverHaving loved
If I can't have you
I don't wanna be me
I don't wanna be meWhy did it take you so long to
Finally see
That we had love
That you don't find easilyYou broke my heart and the price
To pay for that
Is you'll have to live the misery of
Losing what you hadIf I can't have you
My words have come to late
I've already turned that page
Don't you look at me back andThat's the part I hate
I'll stay trapped inside my hell
Where it's so hot
That my walls meltAnd I can hear a promise
In every lie you said
You'd never tell
If I had only told the truthOh I could never trust you to
You'll survive
No I will die
If I can't have youIf I can't have you
Then I'm sorry for the things I
Cost you in the end
My punishment is more than anyMan can stand
I need you in my life
I can't let go
Why don't you stay with meTonight
I feel alone
Turn off all the lights
Take me home
If I can't have youIf I can't have you
Then I would be a river
Dried up into dust
I would be imprisonedFor ever having loved
If I can't have you
I don't wanna be me
To say it's love would be too simple

Meat Loaf (born Marvin Lee Aday on September 27, 1947 in Dallas, Texas) is an American actor and rock and roll performer who came to fame with his album Bat Out of Hell and for his movie performances, including Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Robert "Bob" Paulson in Fight Club and Jack Black's father in Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny.

The All Of Me Songfacts reports that Meat Loaf described his 12th studio album, Hell in a Handbasket, to Billboard as, "the most personal record I've ever made.” He added: “It's about how I feel the world's gone to hell in a handbasket. It's really the first record that I've ever put out about how I feel about life and how I feel about what's going on at the moment." The LP was released September 30, 2011 in Australia, followed by a release in February and March 2012 worldwide.

Meat Loaf has had a very successful music career spawning some of the greatest selling albums of all time and breaking various records. Although he enjoyed success with Jim Steinman's Bat Out Of Hell Trilogy, he experienced some initial difficulty establishing a steady career within the United States; however, he is considered a legend in the UK and across Europe. In the UK, he is ranked 23rd for number of weeks in the charts overall. Due to his anthemic songs and a performance for Radio Veronica in the Netherlands, he stormed up their Top 100 of all times making a top 10 spot 6 years in a row. He ranks at 96th on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of hard rock." His overall success in Europe and Australia has been exceptional and he is considered one of the top artists of all time.
