If I Can't Have You Lyrics

To say it's love would be too simple, too obvious
It's more like a calling a vocation
Something I was put on this earth to do
Now I'm shooting with the stars and I'm flying with the angels
And my heartbeat is a symphony, the closer I get to youI never saw you comin' till you came and here you are
I never thought someone would ever dare to come this far
You're up for the resistance and I'm strong in my persistence
And I've never known a remedy like oursIf I can't have you, if I can't have you
I would be a river dried up into dust
I would be imprisoned for never having loved
If I can't have you, I don't wanna be meThen I would be the same man you scraped off the ground
I'd have to go back bein' that broken soul you found
Those days are in the darkness, I buried them with hardness
And I'd have to dig those demons outYour life is like an anchor that puts me in my place
No, you won't let me sink when I'm off losin' my way
Thank God for your virtue and the wisdom in your eye
'Cause somehow you get through on all that crazy in my mindIf I can't have you, if I can't have you
I would be a river dried up into dust

I would be imprisoned for never having loved
If I can't have you, I don't wanna be me
I don't wanna be meWhy did it take you so long to finally see
That we had a love that you don't find easily?
You broke my heart and the price to pay for that is
You'll have to live the misery of losing what you had
If I can't have youMe, my words have come to late
I've already turned that page
Don't you look at me that way
'Cause you'll throw me back
And that's the part I hateI'll stay trapped inside my hell
Where it's so hot that my walls melt
I can hear a promise in every lie
You said you'd never tellIf I had only told the truth
Oh, I could never trust you to
You'll survive
No, I will dieIf I can't have you, if I can't have you
Then I'm sorry for the things I cost you in the end
My punishment is more than any man can stand
I need you in my lifeI can't let go
Why don't you stay with me, tonight?
I feel alone
Turn off all the lights
Take me homeIf I can't have you, if I can't have you
Then I would be a river dried up into dust
I would be imprisoned for never having loved
If I can't have you I don't wanna be meTo say it's love would be too simple

Meat Loaf (born Marvin Lee Aday on September 27, 1947 in Dallas, Texas) is an American actor and rock and roll performer who came to fame with his album Bat Out of Hell and for his movie performances, including Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Robert "Bob" Paulson in Fight Club and Jack Black's father in Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny.

The All Of Me Songfacts reports that Meat Loaf described his 12th studio album, Hell in a Handbasket, to Billboard as, "the most personal record I've ever made.” He added: “It's about how I feel the world's gone to hell in a handbasket. It's really the first record that I've ever put out about how I feel about life and how I feel about what's going on at the moment." The LP was released September 30, 2011 in Australia, followed by a release in February and March 2012 worldwide.

Meat Loaf has had a very successful music career spawning some of the greatest selling albums of all time and breaking various records. Although he enjoyed success with Jim Steinman's Bat Out Of Hell Trilogy, he experienced some initial difficulty establishing a steady career within the United States; however, he is considered a legend in the UK and across Europe. In the UK, he is ranked 23rd for number of weeks in the charts overall. Due to his anthemic songs and a performance for Radio Veronica in the Netherlands, he stormed up their Top 100 of all times making a top 10 spot 6 years in a row. He ranks at 96th on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of hard rock." His overall success in Europe and Australia has been exceptional and he is considered one of the top artists of all time.
