If You Belonged to Me Lyrics

Waltzing 'round the room tonight
In someone else's clothes
You're always coming out of things
Smelling like a roseYou hang your head and your heart is filled
With so much misery
You'd be happy if you could be
If you belonged to meYou say let's go to the rodeo
And see some cowboy fall
Sometimes it seems to me you've
Got no sympathy at allKeep on going on and on
About how you're so free
You'd be happy as you could be
If you belonged to meIt ain't easy to get to you
But there must be some kind of a way
If only two could look to you
For one moment of each dayYou're saying that you're all washed up
Got nothing else to give
Seem like you never figured out

How long you have to liveYou could feel like a baby again
Sitting on your daddy's knee
Oh, how happy you would be
If you belonged to me, yeahThe guy you're with is a ruthless pimp
Everybody knows
Every cent he takes from you
Goes straight up his noseYou look so sad, you're going so mad
Any fool can see
You'd be happy as you could be
If you belong to me
You'd be happy as you could be
If you belong to me

Traveling Wilburys were a late 1980s supergroup consisting of George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan. The band recorded two albums during the two years they were together: Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1 and Traveling Wilburys Vol. 3
Wilburys was a slang term coined by Harrison and Lynne during the recording of Cloud Nine as a pet name for various types of equipment in the recording studio; Harrison, referring to errors caused by malfunctioning equipment, jokingly remarked to Lynne: "We'll bury 'em in the mix".
