In It for the Money Lyrics

Woohoowoohoo woo wooh who
Woohoowoohoo woo wooh whoOne night in New Orleans I met a painted lady
She swore that she knew just how to save me
She said it wouldnt take long just to do you a minute
Believe me boy you wont soon forget it
But I was too dead and I told her no
She grabbed my hand and she wouldnt let go
She said listen here boy we aint that different you and meAnd its human nature been that way since Cain and Able
If theres bread in your pocket it dont matter how you got it
As long as theres food on the table.
Yeah and sooner or latter your gonna figure it out honey
If you aint in it for loveyour in it for the moneyAhh your in it for the moneyI met and old-timer behind Tootsies Lounge
In the shadow of the Ryman as the sun when down.
He said theyll steal your soul in a radio song
They say you want fame but it wont last long
He said youll be tempted but you better say no
He grabbed my hand and he wouldnt let go
He said cowboy we aint that different you and meYeah its human nature been that way since Hank and Waylon

You put fame in your pocket but as soon as you got it your star is already fadin
Yeah and sooner or latter this old town sure seems funny
And you aint in it for love your in it for the money
For the moneyEverybodys temped
Well everybodys temped
Well have you been temped
yeah yeah yeahAnd its human nature been that way since Cain and Able
If theres bread in your pocket it dont matter how you got it
As long as theres food on the table.
Yeah and sooner or latter you better ask yourself honey
Do you do what you do for love
Do you do what you do for love
And if you aint in it for love
Then your in it for the money
Its all about the moneyWoohoowoohoo woo wooh who
Woohoowoohoo woo wooh who

Pat Green was born in San Antonio and raised in Waco, Texas, the eighth of nine siblings. His father was a stage actor, and Green fell in love with the musicals his father acted in. Green began his musical career when he was 18 and in college at Texas Tech in Lubbock. "I started playing guitar to pick up the chicks," Green laughs. "Before that, I only sang in the shower. I could mimic other people's voices. It took me a long time to find my own voice, but once I did, I became very comfortable with it. It's not real pretty but it's believable."
