In the Mood (feat. Kanye West & Roy Ayers) Lyrics

Yes, welcome to the wonderful sounds of Talib KweliLadies, I got you in the mood for an interlude
Raw like in the nude, I hope this ain't considered rude
But let's stop talkin' 'cause it's feelin' like an interview
I know you into me, so let me get into youI'm always in the mood for laughin' and lovin'
And rappin' and fuckin' And passin' the dutch
And relaxin' and puffin and hittin' and duckin'
The rippin' production, these kittens ain't muffinsJust because we stuff 'em in the oven
My words drippin' off the tongue like the wax from a candle wick
Either the way I lay down the rap, they can't handle it
Cats all sappy like romantic flicks
Dude, get a clue like Colonel Mustard in the study with a candlestickThey holdin' hands with these dudes like they goin' steady
But one glimpse and I know they ready
You already know, slipped her a note like, "You ready to go?"
We make a getaway plan and we head for the doughI wear the night like a cloak 'cause I move with the stars
Navigate through the truly bizarre
Who we are, who we is, it's the kids that stay true to this life
And if the mood is right, we gon' do it tonightI wear the night like a cloak 'cause I move with the stars
Navigate through the truly bizarre

Who we are, who we is, it's the kids that stay true to this life
And if the mood is right, we gon' do it tonightYou messin' up my mo', my whole mood, told you, oh
Lose, eat crews like crews like soul food
The only producer that feel like fuck rappers
Only backpacker with a chip like hackersOnly Michael Richardson, only much blacker
So if he say nigger, then I'ma say cracker
Is this the Ritz? Carlton?
Dress like, fresh, like, just like, I'm the shitYou ain't figured out what I'm about yet
Always rockin' that this ain't out yet
But this ain't 'bout that
From a city where niggers plug like outletsFar as music go, yo, it ain't no outlets
So when I go out, niggers always out to get me in the studio
And I ain't in the mood to flow
I'm with my girl and I'm tryin' to hit the movies, yo
And they tryna act stupid, ohIn the club with Silicone Suzie
What happened to real girls like Rudy?
With real titties like Tooty
This girl got a silicone bootyAnd got the nerve to act moody
Now I ain't tryin' to judge like Judy
But bitch, you a man, you can't fool me
Act like 50, throw her in a pool, GI wear the night like a cloak 'cause I move with the stars
Navigate through the truly bizarre
Who we are, who we is, it's the kids that stay true to this life
And if the mood is right, we gon' do it tonightI wear the night like a cloak 'cause I move with the stars
Navigate through the truly bizarre
Who we are, who we is, it's the kids that stay true to this life
And if the mood is right, we gon' do it tonight, break it downBringin' the drum, keep it funky like a stink in a slum
'Cause see they wanna breed cursin' for the things that don't come
The speakers wrong that we rap dudes speakin' in tongues
Christmas Time, choice for what? No we keepin' our gunsSmokin' a piff to cause a leak in your lungs
You ain't got shit to do like Friday when the weekend begun
Completely done with rap dudes, don't compete with the dumb
I spill my blood for my people, see how deep it can run?I'm in the mood like Dante and Main Flow
Never comin' with the same flow, got it's change, yo
It's strange yo, to make yo' chain glow, that's yo' main goal
That's a facade like I'm somewhere over the rainbowReally these cats sweeter than mangoes
Mr Bojangles-ass dudes dancin' around the club, doin' the tango
Go hard like Iverson playin' with hurt ankles
Plus wrestle the topic from a different Kurt AngleI wear the night like a cloak 'cause I move with the stars
Navigate through the truly bizarre
Who we are, who we is, it's the kids that stay true to this life
And if the mood is right, we gon' do it tonightI wear the night like a cloak 'cause I move with the stars
Navigate through the truly bizarre
Who we are, who we is, it's the kids that stay true to this life
And if the mood is right, we gon' do it tonight, break it downWow, that's a nice track

Talib Kweli Greene (born October 3, 1975 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American MC known as one of the most prominent rappers in underground hip-hop, and is critically acclaimed frequently, despite not being commercially successful. Kweli first gained recognition through Black Star, a collaboration with fellow MC Mos Def. He released his solo debut album Quality in 2002 and has since released 2004's The Beautiful Struggle, 2005's mixtape album Right About Now, 2007's Eardrum and 2011's Gutter Rainbows. He has also released two albums with Hi-Tek under the name Reflection Eternal and a collaboration album with Madlib in 2007 plus two albums with Res under the name Idle Warship.

His name is Arabic, meaning 'the seeker' or 'student of truth and knowledge'. His parents were both college professors: his mother an English professor, his father a sociology professor. As a youth, he was drawn to Afrocentric rappers, such as De La Soul and other members of the Native Tongues Posse and in 1995 began recording with producer Hi-Tek and rapper Mos Def who he met at central park, and later attended New York University with. With Mos Def (together the pair were known as Black Star), Kweli achieved some mainstream success with Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star (1998). Also noted are Kweli and Mos' central input on Rawkus Records' compilation album Soundbombing (1997). Soundbombing also include collaborations between Kweli and DJ Hi Tek as Reflection Eternal. Together they released Train of Thought in 2000, which sold better than most alternative hip hop albums at the time. He has since released a critically acclaimed solo debut, Quality in 2002. In 2004, he released his second solo album, The Beautiful Struggle. His third solo album Ear Drum was released on August 21st, 2007.

Kweli has created his own record label, Blacksmith Records and has recently signed acclaimed female rapper Jean Grae, with rumors continuing to grow that underground veteran MF DOOM is the next artist to be picked up. He left Geffen Records and has signed with the Warner Music Group.

He has since broken through slightly more towards the mainstream, thanks in large part to several appearance on the comedy show Chappelle's Show, both solo and with long-time collaborator Mos Def, this is due to a friendship between the host and creator of the show, comedian Dave Chappelle and the rapper. He also had a guest spot on friend and frequent collaborator Kanye West's widely successful debut album The College Dropout on the track "Get 'Em High". West has also produced some of Kweli's songs, including his biggest commercial hit "Get By". Kweli can also be seen in a commercial for the NCAA's Big Ten Conference, rapping about the league's basketball teams. Talib Kweli provided the voice for the main character, Trane, in the video game Marc Ecko's Getting Up, released in 2006.
