In the Wilderness Lyrics

In the wilderness
In the wilderness
He calls His sons and daughters
To the wildernessBut He gives grace sufficient
To survive any test
And that's the painful purpose
Of the wildernessIn the wilderness we wander
In the wilderness we weep
In the wasteland of our wanting
Where the darkness seems so deepWe search for the beginning
For an exodus to hold
We find that those who follow Him
Must often walk aloneIn the wilderness
In the wilderness
He calls His sons and daughters
To the wildernessBut He gives grace sufficient
To survive any test
And that's the painful purpose

Of the wildernessIn the wilderness we're wondering
For a way to understand
In the wilderness there's not a way
For the ways become a manAnd the man's become the exodus
The way to holy ground
Wandering in the wilderness
Is the best way to be foundIn the wilderness
In the wilderness
He calls His sons and daughters
In the wildernessBut He gives grace sufficient
To survive any test
And that's the painful purpose
Of the wildernessGroaning and growing
Amidst the desert days
The windy winter wilderness
Can blow the self awayIn the wilderness
In the wilderness
He calls His sons and daughters
To the wildernessBut He gives grace sufficient
To survive any test
And that's the painful purpose
Of the wildernessAnd that's the painful promise
Of the wilderness

Michael Card (born April 11, 1957 in Madison, Tennessee) is a Contemporary Christian music (CCM) artist who couples folk-style melodies and instrumentation with lyrics that stem from intensive study of the Bible. This perhaps is most brought out and seen, in his very popular thought provoking song 'Scandalon' - while on a softer level of feelings from the heart came the song 'Abba Father'. Since his debut in 1981, he has sold more than 4 million albums and has written 19 number one singles. He lives with his wife, Susan, and their four children in Franklin, Tennessee.
