Is This the High Life? Lyrics

I've waited so long for my moment in the sun, sun, sun
I've tried to stay calm, but come on!
This feels like a con! I've worked it, now I'm done, done, done
It's time to move up, or move onI read all the books that keep telling me to manifest my dreams
Fat lot of good they do
I fake it to make it, how long will it take?
Too damn long, it seemsIs this the high life? Then why am I wearing Primark?
Is this the high life? I don't think so
Is this the high life? Then why did they just cut my credit cards?
Is this the high life? I don't think soI've written a song just to stop me feeling numb, numb, numb
The numbers were drawn and I got none
But hey, where I'm from all that matters is to have some fun
So keep banging on that drumI read all the books that keep telling me to manifest my dreams
Fat lot of good they do
I fake it to make it, but give me a break, I don't need
To be QueenIs this the high life? Then why am I wearing Walmart?
Is this the high life? I don't think so
Is this the high life? Then why did they impound my golf cart?

Is this the high life? I don't think soBut now and then I wake up and I see
All of the things I've already received
Hey, things are fine, I have friends and good times
And love, and that's all I will ever needWhat is the high life? Watch out, cos I am throwing you a wild card
Is gold the high life? I don't think so!
What is the high life? It's living every day like you're in paradise
Is cash the high life? I don't think so!Is this the high life? My days are more exciting than Jurassic Park
Is this this the high life? Yes, I think so!
Is this the high life? No matter what I'm wearing I look razor sharp
Is this the high life? Yes it, yes it, yes it is!!!

The Puppini Sisters are a musical trio based in England specializing in 1940s-style close harmony vocal music. Composed of Italian Marcella Puppini, English Stephanie O'Brien and Kate Mullins, their sound has been described as "swing-punk," as it is louder and more in-your-face than traditional swing music. The girls are quipped to have "harmonies so tight you could bounce a baby off them".

The group was founded in 2004 by Puppini after she was inspired by the 2003 animated film Les Triplettes de Belleville. The Puppini Sisters' debut single, "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy", is a cover of the iconic hit single by The Andrews Sisters, and although the three are not actually related, they named themselves in tribute to them.

Puppini first studied fashion design at St. Martins School of Art, and later music at Trinity College of Music where she met O'Brien and Mullins. The Sisters are currently supported by a three-piece band featuring the talents of Martin Kolarides on guitar, Henry Tyler on drums/percussion and Nick Pini on upright bass.

The Puppini Sisters won a Gold Disc for international sales of their first CD, Betcha Bottom Dollar, in 2007. According to their official website, the album reached #2 on the US Jazz Charts and #9 on the US New Artist Chart.

Their second album The Rise & Fall of Ruby Woo was released on October 15th 2007, featuring classic covers, 1940s style reworkings of contemporary music, and a selection of original compositions. According to Billboard's official website, the album peaked at #5 in the US Jazz Charts in 2008.

The Puppini Sisters' retro-styled website won the 2008 Cream of Yorkshire awards "Gold Award" for best website.
