Island Lyrics

Wake up my love
The sun is shinin out that blue sky up above
Its a brand new day
Lets walk outside and let that breeze
Blow all our cares awayYou know that we been there in that city life
Weve been strangers for so long
Now that I feel like I know you again
I want to staySo long ago, yeah
We had a love so warm and bright
When we had just begun
That was my last dream
Since then Ive watched the rest crumble one by oneSince weve been on this island, yeah, its felt so right
Its gettin closer now everyday
Now that I feel like I know you again
I want to staySha la la, sha la la, sha la la, sha la la
Sha la la, sha la la, sha la la, sha la la
Sha la la, sha la la, sha la la, sha la la
Sha la la, sha la la, sha la laYou know that on my own, I dont make it alone

I need someone who needs me
I only know that wherever you are
I want to beBut from now on
We wont worry about a thing, yeah, the past is gone
This is our last day, yeah
Were gonna make sweet love before we sail away
[Incomprehensible]Sha la la, sha la la, sha la la, sha la la
Sha la la, sha la la, sha la la, sha la la
Sha la la, sha la la, sha la la, sha la la

Gerald Rafferty (born April 16, 1947, in Paisley, UK and died 4 January 2011) was a Scottish singer and songwriter. In his early years, Gerry Rafferty earned money by the formerly illegal practice of busking on the London Underground. Poetically, his biggest hit "Baker Street" was about busking at a tube station. After working with Billy Connolly (now better known as a comedian) in a band known as The Humblebums, he recorded a first solo album, Can I Have My Money Back.
