Island Lyrics

this to say the things too hard to say
you know my way
it's just my wayrestless, tense, and shifting in my seat
changing times fight bottom lines fight dreams
and darlin' you won't hear my voice tonight
even that is held just out of reachi know... no one sees us making this
i feel it, and see it in their eyes
but i won't lose sleep, if when they see you they don't see mei won't mind
all i've seen and known i would make ours
but for each thing that blesses, more leave scars
i found some softness in a world this hard
but if you should wake one day to find
baby, we could just stay home tonight
if you should need to leave my sideyou'd leave a better man behind
you don't see yourself as mine
if you should wake one day to find
you don't see yourself as mine...for just another soul that's come in from the cold
like and island in a sea of failing coals

seeking shelter from the coming storms
a fire that never dies before it's growni know, that no one sees us making this
i feel it, and see it in their eyes...
but i won't lose sleep, if when they see you they can't see me
i won't mind...
if you should need to leave my side
you don't see yourself as mine
but if you should wake one day to find
you'd leave a better man behind
if you should wake one day to find
if you should need to leave my side...
you don't see yourself as mine
you'd leave a better man behind

Stavesacre is a Southern California-based rock band that, despite some key lineup changes and the vagaries of the music business, has endured for more than a decade. The band's first three albums sold a combined 90,000 copies, and has often been referred to by industry insiders as "the best band you've never heard of." Stavesacre debuted in 1996 with the album Friction. The band's tough, hard rock sound and the very strong, distinctive voice and lyrical work of vocalist Mark Salomon immediately gained Stavesacre a very strong and devoted following.
