It Makes No Difference Lyrics

It makes no difference where I turn
Can't get over you and the flame still burns
And it makes no difference, night or day
Shadows never seem to fade awayAnd the sun don't shine anymore
And the rains fall down on my doorNow there's no love as true as the love that dies untold
And the clouds never hung so low beforeAnd it makes no difference how far I go
Just like that scar the hurt will always show
And it makes no difference who I meet
They're just a face in the crowd on a dead-end streetAnd the sun don't shine anymore
The rains fall down on my doorWell, these old love letters
You know, I just can't keep all the love letters
'Cause like that gambler said, "Just read them and weep"Now the dawn don't rescue me, no more
Without your love, I am nothing at all
Like an empty hall, it's a lonely fall
Since you've been gone, it's a losin' battle
Stampedin' cattle, 'cause they rattle my wallsAnd the sun don't shine anymore
The rains fall down on my doorWell, I love you so much, that's all that I can do
Just to keep myself from ever tellin' you, love

That I've never felt so alone before

Richard Clare "Rick" Danko (December 29 1943 - December 10, 1999) (his birthdate is often mistakenly listed as 1942) was a musician and singer from Green's Corners, near Simcoe, Ontario, probably best known as the bass player and one of three lead singers of The Band. At the age of 14 (1957) Danko booked himself as an opening act for Ronnie Hawkins, & his band The Hawks. Hawkins asked Danko to join his band as a rythym guitarist, though later he would have Danko learn the bass, and by 1960 was Hawkins' bassist.
