It Only Gets Better Lyrics

Hands in the air (4X)(Hook:Marsha Ambrosius)
Lord knows I had it hard today
Had it hard today
Still I gotta keep my head up high along the way
Cause it only gets better, better
It only gets better from here
It only gets better, better
It only gets better from here(Bridge 1:Talib Kweli)
Every day I gotta wake up early
Let it break, thank the Lord at the take
Get the troops, hit the booth, spiritual, it's been great
Practicing my gratitude, life is so beautiful
Working on that attitude, just because(Hook)
It only gets better, better
It only gets better from here
It only gets better, better
It only gets better from here(Verse)
Every day I gotta

Trust in God and hustle hard
My grind is real, my hustle dope
I'm finding meals, I'm signing deals
I'm the Gladiator like Russell Crowe
Yeah, you know it's real, but I'm focused still
Why you focus shake it like gold field
Cause you're not in tune, no, you're not immune
No Echinacea, no golden seal
You sick side, gotta flush it down
When you talk to folks, cover your mouth
Ain't nobody gonna cover that shifts
So you go to work, you tuff it down
You bust it out till you're out for work
I know your boss a jerk, you're gonna cuss a mouth
Hit it with a bus driver upper-cut
That clock only thing you punchin' out
I relate to you, you gotta pay your dues
When the time is right you gotta make a move
Your job is what you get paid to do
Your call is what you're made to do
I got faith in you, you're gonna make it through
Cause you don't chase money, money chasing you
Keep laboring like you got a baby due
You won't taste no fruits like Naked Juice
No the world won't wait for you, you gonna take it now
You gonna make a vow
As long as you walk on the earth with that first got to make me proud
Hey, let me break it down, oh, bless your hearts
Keep talking bout how stressed you are
Better talk about how blessed you are(Hook)
Lord knows I had it hard today
Had it hard today
Still I gotta keep my head up high along the way
Cause it only gets better, better
It only gets better from here
It only gets better, better
It only gets better from here(Bridge 2)
Every day I got to get up early, wake the kids
Get on running made again
Go to work watching in
Every day I'm hustling
Fight the traffic, lose my cool
Get the kids right after school
Think it's hard, yeah, that's true
This is what I have to do(Hook)
Cause it only gets better, better
It only gets better from here
It only gets better, better
It only gets better from here(Verse)
Walk with God be still and listen
Try to talk to God what's real I'm spitting
Call 'em Christ by name but he still ain't rising
Set to my lane but still ain't listening
Got ice in the vans we make so frigid
Still in the kill brain self when you hit it
Order pills when you pop that, pop that, pop that
Don't stop, get it, get it
Started, we the fighters, we survivors but we ain't living
My soul is blacker than the Friday after Thanksgiving
People of colour 25% more likely than whites to face prison
But just because the president is black there's no more racism?
Post-racial? More like most racial
The hate for you disgraceful
Don't let it take you off your base, let it motivate you
Don't let it overtake you, so what another clause
Survive the storm by riding on the beasts of the southern wild(Hook)
Lord knows I had it hard today
Had it hard today
Still I gotta keep my head up high along the way
Cause it only gets better, better
It only gets better from here
It only gets better, better
It only gets better from hereMemories live, man, and my memories stay alive

Talib Kweli Greene (born October 3, 1975 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American MC known as one of the most prominent rappers in underground hip-hop, and is critically acclaimed frequently, despite not being commercially successful. Kweli first gained recognition through Black Star, a collaboration with fellow MC Mos Def. He released his solo debut album Quality in 2002 and has since released 2004's The Beautiful Struggle, 2005's mixtape album Right About Now, 2007's Eardrum and 2011's Gutter Rainbows. He has also released two albums with Hi-Tek under the name Reflection Eternal and a collaboration album with Madlib in 2007 plus two albums with Res under the name Idle Warship.

His name is Arabic, meaning 'the seeker' or 'student of truth and knowledge'. His parents were both college professors: his mother an English professor, his father a sociology professor. As a youth, he was drawn to Afrocentric rappers, such as De La Soul and other members of the Native Tongues Posse and in 1995 began recording with producer Hi-Tek and rapper Mos Def who he met at central park, and later attended New York University with. With Mos Def (together the pair were known as Black Star), Kweli achieved some mainstream success with Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star (1998). Also noted are Kweli and Mos' central input on Rawkus Records' compilation album Soundbombing (1997). Soundbombing also include collaborations between Kweli and DJ Hi Tek as Reflection Eternal. Together they released Train of Thought in 2000, which sold better than most alternative hip hop albums at the time. He has since released a critically acclaimed solo debut, Quality in 2002. In 2004, he released his second solo album, The Beautiful Struggle. His third solo album Ear Drum was released on August 21st, 2007.

Kweli has created his own record label, Blacksmith Records and has recently signed acclaimed female rapper Jean Grae, with rumors continuing to grow that underground veteran MF DOOM is the next artist to be picked up. He left Geffen Records and has signed with the Warner Music Group.

He has since broken through slightly more towards the mainstream, thanks in large part to several appearance on the comedy show Chappelle's Show, both solo and with long-time collaborator Mos Def, this is due to a friendship between the host and creator of the show, comedian Dave Chappelle and the rapper. He also had a guest spot on friend and frequent collaborator Kanye West's widely successful debut album The College Dropout on the track "Get 'Em High". West has also produced some of Kweli's songs, including his biggest commercial hit "Get By". Kweli can also be seen in a commercial for the NCAA's Big Ten Conference, rapping about the league's basketball teams. Talib Kweli provided the voice for the main character, Trane, in the video game Marc Ecko's Getting Up, released in 2006.
