It Plays On Lyrics

Inside out
I'm waking up the wrong way 'round
Scream and shout
But it never seems to make a soundI tell myself
That you'll be coming back this way
I kid myself
That you just took a holidayIt's been a while since
We said goodbye
But the tears oh they just won't dry
It don't matter what I do
Somebody's playin'
Like a Rolling Stone
Sounds like you singing
Sounds like you singin' it to meInside my dreams we are
Still dancing to the music
Inside my heart you're still the song
Just hold me close
Let's keep on dancing to the music

Even when the sound is gone
It plays on, it plays onYeah I'm crazy now
Boy you better not get too close
Oh the time goes slow
When you're walkin' on broken glass
It feels like forever since we said goodbye
But the tears
No they're still not dry
It don't matter what I do
I threw your name into the ocean
But some things come back
Some things last forever
Inside my dreams we are
Still dancing to the music
Inside my heart you're still the song
Just hold me close
Let's keep on dancing to the music
Even when the sound is gone
It plays on, it plays onIt plays on like a broken record
Won't stop turning
It plays on like a siren
Non-stop raging
It plays on with the rolling thunder
In a starless sky
Heartbeats together
True love will never say goodbyeInside my dreams we are
Still dancing to the music
Inside my heart you're still the song
Just hold me close
Let's keep on dancing to the music
Even when the sound is gone
It plays on, it plays on
Plays on

Diane Birch (born January 24, 1983) is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. Her debut album "Bible Belt" was released in 2009 to positive reviews by critics. With a childhood spent on the move, as the daughter of a preacher, living between Zimbabwe, South Africa and Australia, before her parents finally settled in Portland, Oregon when she was in her early teens, Diane Birch absorbed a unique and very cosmopolitan perspective on life that shines through her music and makes a simple categorization of it impossible.
