It Takes One To Know Me Lyrics

It's true that I used to be crazy
And harder to love than most men
And the blood that ran in these tired hands
Was harder and wilder back thenAnd I don't feel as tall as I used to
Maybe it's just that I've grown
You're the one that held my hand when I fell
If I just couldn't make it aloneWe've lived out all the stories
Sang all the old songs
It takes one to know me
I guess, you're the oneYour daughters a lady, she's a fortune
And your son an heir to the throne
And though this crown that I hold is tarnished and cold
It's a symbol of all that we ownSometimes I wish I was younger
And could pick up the pieces and run
But then I look back on the matter of fact
And it's a race that we've already wonWe've lived out all the stories
Sang all the old songs
It takes one to know me

I guess, you're the oneWe've lived out all the stories
Sang all the old songs
It takes one to know me
And you knew the one

Johnny Cash (born J.R. Cash, February 26, 1932 – September 12, 2003) was an influential American country and rock and roll singer and songwriter. Cash was the husband of country singer and songwriter June Carter Cash (June 23, 1929 – May 15, 2003). Cash was known for his deep and distinctive voice, the boom-chick-a-boom or "freight train" sound of his Tennessee Three backing band, and his dark clothing and demeanor, which earned him the nickname "The Man in Black." He started all his concerts with the simple introduction "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash."
