Jah Is My Shield Lyrics

This morning when I rise, I give most izes, praises, hail to the most high;
Keep calling upon his all, and hail; Rastafari
and when some people try to make the fool,
of themselves and try to ridicule,
their not much better -
just the way they live,
them there will never reach the positive,
Remember Jah is your shield and your guide,
and the wickedness gotta turn aside
No need to fend no wicked guide, the most high protect your life,
Jah is your your shield and your guide,
and the wicked men gotta turn aside,
No need to fend no wicked guide, the most high protect your life,
They wish for your life to end, and they say that their your friend,
they do you evil or they move so sweet, a bunch of hypocrits.
All dem a chat, dem can't knock you down, no no

No matter what just with Jah Jah be firm,
Just be clever and you gotta be smart.
Walk a straight road. Cause no love no inna dem heart.
Remember Jah is your shield and you guide,
and the wickedness gotta turn aside,
No need to fend no wicked guide, Selassie I protect your life,
Jah is your your shield and your guide,
and the wicked men gotta turn aside,
No need to fend no wicked guide, Rastafari protect your life,
This morning when I rise, I give thank and praises, unto Jah,
Keep calling upon, his love and ... let Jah prepare his path for I,
Jah is my shield and my guide,
all the wickedness gotta turn aside,
No need, no need! No need to fend no wicked guy,
Selassie I protect your life,
Jah is your your shield and your guide,
and the wicked men gotta turn aside...

Sizzla Kalonji (real name Miguel Orlando Collins) is a Jamaican reggae musician. He was born on 17 April 1976, in St Mary, Jamaica, of devout Rastafari parents and raised in August Town. He is unusually prolific, even by Jamaican standards. Sizzla has worked with such artists as Mobb Deep.

Sizzla, along with reggae recording artists such as Capleton, Buju Banton, and Anthony B, are credited with leading a movement toward a re-embracement of Rastafarian values in contemporary reggae music by recording material which is concerned primarily with spirituality, social consciousness, explores common themes, such as Babylon's corrupting influence, the disenfranchisement of ghetto youth, oppression of the black nation and Sizzla's abiding faith in Jah and resistance against perceived agents of oppression. Sizzla has over 40 full completed albums sold in record stores to date, the most popular which have been "Black Woman & Child" and "Da Real Thing" on the Digital B label, "Praise Ye Jah" on Xterminator, and "Rise to the Occasion" on Greensleeves.

Recently, however, he has come under fire for the homophobic content of many of his lyrics, and the advocacy of violence against gays.
