Jar - Drew Isleib

Jar Lyrics

Take the broken jar
that was your heart
and put it in a jar
and label in new heart
or put it on the shelf
or into yourself
the timing's up to you
do what you have to do
but Baby, don't you cry no more
we swept up all the shards from the bathroom floor
if there's slivers in your heel the tweezers will reveal
that the cause of pain is clear and O so small
Know that your new jar
may also fall apart
doubling the shards
placed into a third jar

put it where you will
put it on the window sill
the time is up to you
do what you have to do
but Baby, don't you cry no more
the sun shines through the glass onto the kitchen floor
with prisms in your eyes you will realize
that the more it breaks the fuller your heart gets
