John's Gay Lyrics

We've learnt to kick a ball
But we're not quite cynical
And we've written on the wall 'John's gay'
He's gayAnd Janet's friends with John
And she says that we're all scum
He just gets his homework done
And won't play not todayWhat will we grow up to be?
(Ask your brother)
What will we grow up to see?
(Can't be bothered)
Will you still be friends with me
Fourteen, fifteen, sixteen?Martin grew out of his A-team vest
Nicked the pedals off my BMX
And he says that he's had sex with a girlFor effect, I lost my virginity
The year above us had discovered E
And I said, "It weren't for me, 12.50"What will we grow up to be?
(Ask your brother)
What will we grow up to see?

(Can't be bothered)
Will you still be friends with me
Fourteen, fifteen, sixteen? We hide in bandstands and talk in the dark
Rain's never cold when you're young
We were devoted to us from the start
I know too much how to feel youngWe've learnt to kick a ball
And we're not quite cynical
And we've written on the wall, 'John's gay'
He's gayWhat will we grow up to be?
(Ask your brother)
What will we grow up to see?
(Can't be bothered)
Will you still be friends with me
Fourteen, fifteen, sixteen? What will we grow up to be?
(Ask your brother)
What will we grow up to see?
(Can't be bothered)
Will you still be friends with me
Fourteen, fifteen, sixteen?Young

Robert Peter Williams (born 13 February 1974, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire) is an English singer, songwriter, and record producer. While Williams' early pop career started with the hit boy band Take That, he has found far greater success since taking his leave in 1995. Williams has sold over 70 million records worldwide, which ranks him among the best-selling music artists worldwide. He is the best-selling British solo artist in the United Kingdom and the best selling non-Latino artist in Latin America.

Six of his albums are among the top 100 biggest-selling albums in the United Kingdom. He has also been honoured with seventeen BRIT Awards—more than any other artist—and seven ECHO Awards. In 2004, he was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame after being voted as the "Greatest Artist of the 1990s."

The Candy Songfacts reports that Williams teamed up with his Take That bandmate Gary Barlow, to write the first single from his ninth studio album, Take The Crown. "Candy" will be released October 29, 2012.
