July 3rd Lyrics

I wouldn't want you
To take offense
But i returned
That gift you sent
I could see that it was just right for youWhy do they say
Think of yourself
When you choose something
For someone else
My birthday wishes never come trueI should have know
Now that i'm grown
I'm one year older and
I'm not much bolder
You should have warned me
This was the way it was going to be
I wanted a party but
There'll be one next year maybe
To you it's just
Another day

But my next birthday's
So far away
I wish that you had remembered
It seems to be
Pretty unfair
You're sixteen too
But i don't care
I won't be calling you July 3rd

PLUMTREE was a quartet from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Formed in 1993 when the sisters Carla Gillis and Lynette Gillis met up with Amanda Braden and Nina Martin, Plumtree quickly established themselves as one of the more original young bands in Canada. Catriona Sturton replaced Martin on bass later on. The band quickly developed a highly collaborative songwriting method which combined catchy melodies, a serious approach to writing music and solid instrumentation. Plumtree split up in 2000.
