K.C. Dawsie Blues - David Chown

David Chown is a Traverse City Michigan based pianist. He has 6 CD's out on his Shmooze Music label. David was born in Bay City Michigan, and began piano lessons when he was 8 years old. He went on to receive a Bachelor's of Music degree in Jazz Studies from Western Michigan University, where he studied with Phillis Rappeport and Steven Zegree. After touring Europe for a year, he resumed his studies at Michigan State University, where he received a bachelor's degree in Piano Technology in 1986. Since then he has been playing professionally all over Michigan, including a 3 year stint at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. Currently David owns and operate Lookout Music Productions, where he maintains a recording studio that includes his beloved 1946 Steinway B. His latest CD is with vocalist Miriam Pico, "S'bout Time".
