Keep It to Yourself Lyrics

I walk along the street and wonder what to do
Id like to ease the pain in my troubled brain
But as to how, I havent a clueShould I shout at the people who pass me by
"Hey folks look at me, Im no ordinary guy
I had a love and she swore she was mine
But she only loved me when the weather was fine"My mind tells me what to do, keep it to yourself
Tell nobody else, just how you loved her so
They dont want to know, keep it to yourselfOn a subway train, I hide from the rain
And take a seat right next to the door
Theres a man with a case and as I look at his face
Im sure I've seen him someplace beforeHe looks up and I look down and then we both look away
The train slows down and my head spins round
Its like scene from a one-act playMy mind tells me what to do, keep it to yourself
Tell nobody else, just how you loved her so
They dont want to know, keep it to yourselfI feel much better when the sun has lost its glow
When the light of day is fading away
And there are shadows wherever I goYes, the light is fading and Im masquerading
As a poet with something to say

The inspirations gone and I cant turn it on
Its been the same since she went awayMy mind tells me what to do, keep it to yourself
Tell nobody else, just how you loved her so
They dont want to know, keep it to yourself

Gerald Rafferty (born April 16, 1947, in Paisley, UK and died 4 January 2011) was a Scottish singer and songwriter. In his early years, Gerry Rafferty earned money by the formerly illegal practice of busking on the London Underground. Poetically, his biggest hit "Baker Street" was about busking at a tube station. After working with Billy Connolly (now better known as a comedian) in a band known as The Humblebums, he recorded a first solo album, Can I Have My Money Back.
