Keepin' It Strong Lyrics

Been such a long time since I held you
All the while you used to talk to me
All the things you said made me so strong
You know what, I would say I would keep movin' onSometimes I sit back and think about how it was
When I was young, I used to think it was you I couldn't live without
Somehow, life took a sad route
Sometimes the wind blows bad enough to take a plane down
Your straight bullets killed children on playgrounds
Bullshit got me about to smoke a whole poundMeanwhile, I smile, hoping I can rebound
Somehow the LBC streets ain't the same now, without you
Things ain't been the same since you ain't around
But I stay strong game tight, hold it down
Warren G, I never played a blackground
This song is fucked up, because you goneOoh, I see ya standing there
With the moonlight shining in your hair
How it makes me reminisce
Over and over, again and againOoh, I see ya standing there
With the moonlight shining in your hair

How it makes me reminisce
Over and over, again and againNothing means more to me, than family
When one lost, it's sad to see, damn it's me
A friend you will always be
Above all things, you taught me to pursue my dreams
With joy it brings, at times when I sit and think
I know inside you smiled down, proud at me
I just need one more drink, damnAt night I can't sleep, I admit that its hard to eat
It's all good, I ain't trippin'
Tried to show me the right laws and guidelines
But I ain't listen, I'm sitting here lavishing and living
And I'd give it all back because you still missingOoh, I see ya standing there
With the moonlight shining in your hair
How it makes me reminisce
Over and over, again and againOoh, I see ya standing there
With the moonlight shining in your hair
How it makes me reminisce
Over and over, again and againLord please hear me, ease my soul
I woke up one day and my mom was gone
I'm in the zone wishing I could call your home
Sing your song, tell ya that I'm out on tour
All alone, I just needed to hear your voice on the phone
Mother and son, though I'm grownLife moves on, I need you Mom, a quiet storm
Differences and right and wrong
As I move on, since Warren G ain't gone
The stitch is on, set the tone, the page I'm on
Is having fun, having a ball, living life
I'm still here, wishing you was homeOoh, I see ya standing there
With the moonlight shining in your hair
How it makes me reminisce
Over and over, again and againI still see you standing there
With the moonlight shining in your hair
How it makes me reminisce
Over and over, over, over, overAgain, again, I miss you
Ohh Mama, don't know, Mama, don't know
How I keep it strong, keep moving on
Keep it strong, movin' it on
Keepin' it strong, movin' it on
Keepin' it strong, movin' it on
Keepin' it, oh Mama, keepin', oh MamaThe things she told me
I promise I'll be the same to your grand children
What you worded me
Don't worryI still feel you mama
The things you say
I feel your arms around me everyday
Oh, Mama, oh I know, I know, I know
I know, I know, I know, I know
I know, know, knowI know you're there
Smiling down at me

Warren Griffin III (born November 10, 1970 in Long Beach, California), better known simply as Warren G, is a Grammy award nominated American West Coast rapper, singer, DJ and producer signed to his own label, G-Funk Entertainment. In 1990, Warren G formed the group 213 with Nate Dogg and Snoop Dogg, and in 1994 he exploded onto the Long Beach rap scene with the smash single "Regulate," a duet with Nate Dogg, and its accompanying album, Regulate...G Funk Era. He has since released a further 8 albums on Death Row Records. He grew up in Long Beach listening to his parents' extensive collection of jazz, soul and funk records, also frequently hanging out at the local record store. As a teenager, he and his friends Nate Dogg and future superstar Snoop Dogg formed a rap group called 213, after their area code. Unfortunately, all three had brushes with the law and spent time in jail, which motivated them to get jobs, also working on their music on the side. Eventually, the V.I.P. record store allowed the trio to practice and record in a back room. It was here that Snoop cut the demo "Super Duper Snooper," which G played for his half-brother Dr. Dre at a party. Dre invited all three to his studio and wound up collaborating with Snoop on The Chronic. While G also made several contributions, he opted to develop his talents mostly outside of Dre's shadow. He honed his musical skills while producing such artists as MC Breed and 2Pac. A break came when his vocal collaboration with Mista Grimm, "Indo Smoke," appeared on the Poetic Justice soundtrack. Soon after that, G recorded his debut album for Death Row. "Regulate" appeared on the Above the Rim soundtrack and was released as a single. It quickly became a massive hit, peaking at #2 on the Billboard charts and pushing the album up to the same position. The album eventually went triple platinum, with "This D.J." becoming his second Top 10 hit.

Warren G took nearly three years to complete his second album, returning in the spring of 1997 with Take A Look Over Your Shoulder, which was greeted with decidedly mixed reviews and weak sales. I Want It All followed in 1999 with The Return of the Regulator appearing two years later. In 2005 he signed with Lightyear Enterntainment and released In the Mid-Nite Hour.
