Kids in America Lyrics

Looking out a dirty old window
Down below the cars in the
City go rushing by
I sit here alone
And I wonder whyFriday night and everyone's moving
I can fell the heat
But it's soothing
Heading down
I search for the beat in this dirty townDown town the young ones are going
Down town the young ones are growingChorus:We're the kids in America (x 2)
Everybody live for the music-go-roundBright lights the music gets faster
Look boy, don't check on your watch
Not another glance
I'm not leaving now, honey not a chanceHot-shot, give me no problems
Much later baby you'll be saying never mind
You know life is cruel, life is never kindKind hearts don't make a new story
Kind hearts don't grab any gloryChorusCome closer, honey that's better
Got to get a brand new experience

Feeling right
Oh don't try to stop baby
Hold me tightOutside a new day is dawning
Outside Suburbia's sprawling everywhere
I don't want to go baby
New York to East California
There's a new wave coming I warn youChorusWe're the kids
We're the kids
We're the kids in America!

The Donnas are an American all-female hard rock band from Palo Alto, California. After gathering a cult following since their May 1993 debut, the band achieved major commercial success in the late-90s and afterward. Heavily influenced by the energetic punk rock of the 70s and 80s, they're perhaps best known for the top 40 rock smashes "Take It Off" and "Fall Behind Me". All of the initial band members– Brett Anderson, Allison Robertson, Maya Ford, Amy Cesari, and Torry Castellano– were born in 1979.
