Kiss Me Miss Liberty (live) Lyrics

Up in Westminster, the bell fell down
Took three hundred years to touch the ground
Fall leaves drifted by and turned brown
Foreign plane was downedDogs came running from their cold dog pound
They leapt through the fence and ran downtown
And the convicts turned their ship around
They were homeward boundKiss me, Miss Liberty
Take me to bed
So I can be free as well
Not just in my headKiss me, Miss Liberty
Lift me alone
Unchain my heavy heart
Fill me with love
Miss Liberty, kiss meAnd the slaves were saved from their chain-gang
Knives cut men down, just about to hang
Lost love returned just like a boomerang
And it was I who sangKiss me, Miss Liberty
Take me to bed

So I can be free as well
Not just in my head
Miss Liberty, kiss me
Kiss me, kiss me, kiss me, ohFreedom, show me to your foreign shore
Lay me in your arms at your front door
I can't face confinement anymore
I won't be ignoredKiss me, Miss Liberty
Take me to bed
So I can be free as well
Not just in my headKiss me, Miss Liberty
Lift me above
Unchain my heavy heart
Kill me with love
Miss Liberty, kiss me
Kiss me, kiss me, kiss me, oh

John Wesley Harding (b. 22 October 1965) is a folk/pop singer-songwriter who has called his style of music "folk noir" and "gangsta folk". He was born Wesley Stace in Hastings, East Sussex, England. His given name, Wesley, comes from John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, who preached one of his last sermons in the town where Harding was born. His stage name may be seen as an almost inevitable nickname for a folk-pop musician, in that his first name overlaps with the Bob Dylan album (and song) "John Wesley Harding".
