Known Diamond Lyrics

Hearing the phone ring
Another angel lost its wings
Better to save it
For when you really need something
"Is heaven abandoned?"
The words that you could never write
They called me to send me
Wondering where you are tonightLike a known diamond, they say you got the light, girl
So take the right to find the fire that fits
Your faded heart
The shadow of diamonds, it keeps you from my sight, girl
Don't walk away, just say you'll stay engaged in who you are
What you rejected when the harbor lights went out
When all is uncertain, you can soothe yourself with doubt
You look to the mirror and ask if they make fables there
You know you're moving fast when your surface is bareLike a known diamond, they say you got the light, girl
So take the right to find the fire that fits
Your faded heart

The rumor of diamonds can set the dogs to fight, girlSo hear these words of mine that say your shine is genuine
Locked away, to keep the theives from finding out
Remember the sunlight when out in the world you'd walk?
You'd drift like a smoke ring in the shadows of New York
Then you see her picture, and wonder if you ever left - you can
Throw dirt on a memory, but you could never say it's dead
Like a known diamond, they say you got the light, girl
So take the right to find the fire that fits your faded heart
The illusion of diamonds, it keeps you from my sight, girl
Don't walk away, just say you'll stay engaged in who you are

Ken Stringfellow is most widely known as Jon Auer's partner in the Seattle-based "power pop" group, The Posies, but is also a well-respected artist and producer in his own right.

Ken's solo career began with the 1997 release, This Sounds Like Goodbye and the low-fi, experimental feel of this album was a departure from the richness of The Posies sound.

His second solo release, Touched, had the misfortune of a September 11, 2001 street date and as a result, did not receive the attention it deserved. The outright experimentalism found in his solo debut was replaced by a more polished and rounded sound that is more reminiscent of his work in The Posies.

Stringfellow's third solo effort, Soft Commands, was released to critical acclaim in 2004.

In addition to his solo work and The Posies, Stringfellow has produced albums for several artists around the world and has worked with REM and Big Star, both in the studio and on the road.

According to Stringfellow's blog at http://www.kenstringfellow.com, a new solo album is being recorded in 2007. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
