La vie en rose Lyrics

Hold me close and hold me fast
The magic spell you cast
This is la vie en roseWhen you kiss me, Heaven sighs
And though I close my eyes
I see la vie en roseWhen you press me to your heart
I'm in a world apart, a world where roses bloom
And when you speak, angels sing from above
Everyday words seem to turn into love songsGive your heart and soul to me
And life will always be
La vie en roseQuand il me prend dans ses bras
Il me parle tout bas
Je vois la vie en roseIl me dit des mots d'amour
Des mots de tous les jours
Et ca me fait quelque choseWhen you press me to your heart
I'm in a world apart, a world where roses bloom
And when you speak, angels sing from above
Everyday words seem to turn into love songsGive your heart and soul to me
And life will always be

Jerry Vale's beautiful high-tenor voice graced many of the most enchanting pop songs of the '50s and '60s, including a parade of Italian-American favorites like "Innamorata (Sweetheart)," "Volare," "Amore, Scusami," and his signature song, "Al Di La." Vale, born Genaro Louis Vitaliano in 1932, learned the Italian repertoire from an early age; his mother often sang around the house and trotted out the old songs at extended-family gatherings. While shining shoes at a local barber shop at the age of 11, young Vitaliano began singing popular songs for customers while he worked.
