Lady Down On Love Lyrics

Advisory - the following lyrics contain explicit language:
It's her first night on the town
Since she was just 18
A lady down on love
And out of hope and dreamsThe ties that once bound her
Now are broke away
And she's like a baby
Just learnin' how to playShe never thought that love
Could ever end so soon
Her mind drifts back in time
To a mid summer moonWhen he asked her to marry

And she gladly said okay
And a woman came to be
From the girl of yesterdayNow she's a lady
Down on love
She needs somebody
To gently pick her upShe's got her freedom
But she'd rather be bound
To a man who would love her
And never let her downWell, I know the lady
That's down on her love
'Cause I used to hold her
And have that special touchBut work took me away
From home late at nights
And I wasn't there
When she turned out the lightsThen both of us got lonely
And I gave into lust
And she just couldn't live
With a man she couldn't trustNow she's a lady
Down on love
She needs somebody
To gently pick her upShe's got her freedom
But she'd rather be bound
To a man who would love her
And never let her downNow she's a lady
Down on love

Alabama is a country music band from Fort Payne, Alabama that was started in 1969 but did not get a recording contract until 1977. Alabama began by singing for tips around Myrtle Beach before going on to sell millions of records. They were among the first successful country groups since the mid-1970s, thanks to their blend of contemporary and traditional country and southern rock. On July 4-93 they opened a $7-million, 2,200-seat theater, located in Barefoot Landing-Myrtle Beach South Carolina.

The members of Alabama are:

- Randy Owen (vocals and rhythm guitar)
- Teddy Gentry, (vocals and bass guitar)
- Jeff Cook (lead guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, fiddle, banjo, and mandolin)
- Mark Herndon (drums and percussion)

Along with the Oak Ridge Boys and the Statler Brothers, Alabama is recognized as having paved the way for today's top country groups, including Diamond Rio, Lonestar and Rascal Flatts.
