Lady Sundown Lyrics

(Clark/Bettis)Lately sundown means a little more to me
Heartbeats rise as the sun slips through the trees
As the twilight burns the sky
I can't wait for the light to die
'Cause I know how good tonight is gonna beLady Sundown, you haunt me through the day
When we lay down you burn my nights away
I never meant to give so much
But your touch turned me around
And when the night falls, I fall too, Lady Sundown, Lady SundownStarlight shadows moving in a quiet room
You open to me like a desert flower to the moon
Then the darkness starts to flow
To a rhythm only lovers know
Lyin' in love 'til the mornin' comes too soonLady Sundown, you haunt me through the day
When we lay down you burn my nights away
I never meant to give so much
But your touch turned me around
And when the night falls, I fall too, Lady Sundown, ooh ohhLady Sundown, you haunt me through the day
When we lay down you burn my nights away

I never meant to give so much
But your touch turned me around
And when the night falls, I fall too, Lady SundownLady Sundown, you haunt me through the day
When we lay down you burn my nights awayLady Sundown, you haunt me through the day
When we lay down you burn my nights awayLady Sundown, you haunt me through the day
When we lay down you burn.......(c) Warner Bros. Music Ltd.

Dr. Hook (& The Medicine Show) were formed in Union City, New Jersey, USA in 1968. The original lineup consisted of Ray Sawyer, Dennis Locorierre, Bill Francis, John David and George Cummings - although there were countless lineup changes over the years.

Two years after Sawyer left in 1983 the band split up. Since then Sawyer has begun touring as "Dr Hook featuring Ray Sawyer" and Locorierre has also promoted himself as "The voice of Dr Hook".

Trivia: In a live webcast performance from Atlanta Bon Jovi performed "Sylvia's Mother" by Dr Hook - declaring the song "One we should have written".
