Landmine Lyrics

Never was a world I couldn't sing into place until now
Never was a love that I could not replace until now
Winter was hard, we came out with our hearts frozen through
Now we're holding our breath and I'm trying to hold on to youWas it that you wanted that I didn't understand
Boomerang of expectations back to bite the handAnd I give my love to you
And you, you walk away too soonA land mine doesn't take much to trigger the blast
Feel all along my faults and defenses at last
Someday you'll dismantle the colored wires
Yellow, green or red, is it love or desireYou can face me now or you can shrug and act surprised
Either way someday you'll see yourself reflected in my eyesAnd I give my love to you
And you, so brave
You sing 'Heroes' when you're all alone
You balk at what you should have known it
You've got nothing to lose, but me
You lose me, love me, choose meNever was a world I couldn't sing into place until now
Never was a love that I could not replace until nowBut I, I give my love to you
And you, you walk away too soon
And I, I give my love to you

And you, so brave
You sing 'Heroes' when you're all alone
You balk at what you should've known it
You've got nothing to lose, but me
You lose me, love me, choose me

Jonatha Brooke is an American folk rock singer-songwriter whose music is marked by complex harmonies and poignant lyrics. Her career began while she was a student at Amherst College in the early 1980s when she and fellow student Jennifer Kimball formed Jonatha & Jennifer, releasing one tape under that name before renaming themselves to The Story (their tracks often had interesting back-stories, which they would share when playing live).
