Lay It Down Lyrics

Travelling down two different roads
Trying hard to leave the load
Take it back, but we can’t let go
It’s so hard to lay it down
Hide in me, confide in me
Don’t you think it’s time to be
All the things we tried to be
You and me should lay it down
Speak to me be unashamed
There’s no need in playin’ games
After all, we’re all the same
Tryin’ hard to lay it down
It’s so hard to lay it down
Wish my words could make it well

Wish that I could break this shell
Take us from this self-made hell
Find a way to lay it down
Burdened by the things I’ve learned
Heard it cost, I’m too concerned
Nonetheless I confess I yearned
Find a way to lay it down
Lay it down, brother
It’s so hard to lay it down
Lay it down, brother
It’s so hard to lay it down
Lay it down, brother
Lay it down, brother
Find a way to lay it down
Lay it down, brother
Lay it down, brother
You and me should lay it down

Lonnie Mack is a roadhouse blues-rock legend -- modern rock's first true guitar hero. His playing has influenced the course of rock and roll and had an impact on many of modern rock's current guitar heroes, including Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Jimmy Page and especially Stevie Ray Vaughan. His early music bridged the gap between '50s rockabilly and the psychedelic blues-rock of the following decade, and, like the best rock and roll, his work continues to embody a mixture of white and black roots music.
