Learning to Forget Lyrics

It only takes a second
For bitterness to come out
But a lifetime to leave it behind
We're still learning to forget about you
And all the things that you said that you could doThey say never burn a bridge
But you're one bridge I'll never walk down again
Well I'm not talking about everyone
Just those who have made things difficultBut now we're looking to the future
The things that are ahead
Where people keep their promisesThey say never burn a bridge
But you're one bridge I'll never walk down again
All we wanted was for you to be honest with us
Is that too much to ask?
Is that too much for you to do?We both know every word
From your mouth is a lie
Have you started believing
Have you started believing yourself? They say never burn a bridge
You're one bridge I'll never walk down again

Learning to forget you, learning to forget
Learning to forget, learning to forget
Learning to forget you, youThey say never burn a bridge
But youre one bridge Ill never walk down again
All we wanted was for you to be honest with us
Is that too much to ask?
Is that too much for you to do?We both know every word
From your mouth is a lie
Have you started believing yourself?

It won't take long for listeners of Spoken's sixth studio album to be reminded of how hard and fast the band can rock. The three songs that open the album, "History Erased," "Close Your Eyes" and "Not Soon Forgotten," start things off with nine minutes of blazing fast guitar riffs and loud and quick-rising vocals, all bounded by a full-sounding rhythm section. After two albums for Tooth and Nail where the band explored more anthemic avenues, the quintet found itself re-examining its hard rock and metal roots on its third record for the label.
