Legend Lyrics

Dark as night, cold and lonely
Rides the horse that's known as only 'Thunder Road'
Icy fingers hold the reins
While hoofs come poundin' so insanely on and onEyes that dance like burnin' embers
All the county still remembers who you are
Did she love you like they say?
And did she really run away and leave you here?Ride the wind tonight
You'll find her there
No more racin'
With the damp night airDown the road to Whitman's Crossing
Underneath the widow blossoms soft and green
Covered by the crimson shawl
And hidden by the leaves that fall down to the groundMidnight comes and midnight goes
In between the moonlight shadows veiled in tearsRide the wind tonight
You'll find her there
No more racin'
With the damp night airRide the wind tonight
You'll find her there

No more racin'
With the damp night airOh, find the road
Going now down the road
And take you down from the road
Gotta [Incomprehensible]
Move and move [Incomprehensible]
Move me down from the road
I said, move me down from the road

Poco, founded in 1968 by Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Richie Furay and Jim Messina (both inducted 1997 with Buffalo Springfield), was one of the earliest in the "country rock" genre that was later commercially popularized by bands such as the Eagles. The band was completed by Rusty Young (pedal steel guitar, dobro, banjo and mandolin) Randy Meisner on bass and George Grantham on drums. Poco's 1969 debut, "Pickin' Up the Pieces" (the title being a reference to the break-up of Buffalo Springfield), received some critical acclaim but generated very litttle enthusiasm commercially.
