Let Me Be Your Friend Lyrics

Many times I've thought about you
Many times I've wondered why
That you'd ever go and leave me
And this heart you taught to cryDarling wait until I see you
Since you say it is the end
Though I know that you don't love me
Won't you let me be your friendAs I lay upon my pillow
Thinking of you in my dreams
Are you happy with another
I'm so lonesome here it seemsDo you ever think about me
Will you love again someday
Will you ever think my darling
Of this heart you stole away

The Stanley Brothers (Carter Stanley, 1925-1966, and Ralph Stanley, born 1927) were an American bluegrass duo originally hailing from Dickenson County, Virginia. The family soon moved to McClure, Virginia, where their parents worked a small farm in the Clinch Mountains. Music was a part of their lives from the word go, as they were able to listen to the likes of The Monroe Brothers, Mainer's Mountaineers, and other artists featured on the Grand Ole Opry radio program.
