Life In One Day Lyrics

The old man said to me
Said, "Don't always take life so seriously
Play the flute and dance and sing your song"Try and enjoy the here and now
The future will take care of itself somehow
The grass is never greener over thereAnd time will wear away the stone
Gets the hereditary boneDon't try to live your life in one day
Don't go speed your time away
Don't try to live your life in one day
Don't go speed your time awayThe old man said to me
Said, "You can't change the world single handedly
Raise a glass enjoy the scenery"Pretend the water is champagne
And fill my glass again and again
While the wolves are gathering 'round your doorTime will wear away the stone
Gets the hereditary boneDon't try to live your life in one day
Don't go speed your time away
And don't try to live your life in one day
And don't go speed your time awayDon't try to live your life in one day
Don't go speed your time away

Don't try to live your life in one day
Don't go speed your time awayThe old man said to me
Said, "Don't always take life so seriously
Play the flute and dance and sing your song"Try and enjoy the here and now
The future will take care of itself somehow
The grass is never greener over thereTime will wear away the stone
Gets the hereditary boneI tried to live my life in one day
Don't go speed your time away
I bit off more than I can chew
Only so much you can doWolves are gathering 'round my door
Ask them in and invite some more
I tried to live my life in one day
Don't go speed your time awayDon't try to live your life in one day
Don't try to live your life in one dayDon't try to live your life in one day
Don't go speed your time away
Don't try to live your life in one day
Don't go speed your time awayDon't try to live your life in one day
Don't go speed your time away
Don't try to live your life in one day
Don't go speed your time away

Liane Carroll was born in London and raised in Hastings, where she currently lives with her husband, bassist Roger Carey. She started playing the piano at the age of three, under the tutorage of concert pianist Phyllis Catling, but soon developed a deep passion for everything jazz, soul and beyond. Both of her parents were singers and, following their divorce when Liane was six, she stayed with her mother and sister at her grand-parents’ house, where she was lovingly encouraged to carry on making as much of a racket as possible.
