Lily-O Lyrics

There were 3 ladies playin' a ball
Oh,Lilly-O
There were 3 lawyers
Come and courtin' them all
Lilly-O, sweet heart
The first one came all dressed in white
Oh, Lilly-O
Come callin' for his heart
Lilly-O, sweet heart
The next one came all dressed in red
Oh,Lilly-O
Come callin' for to see her wed Lilly-O sweet heart
The 3rd one came all dressed in blue Oh,Lilly-O
Said oh my love I've come for you Lilly-O, sweet heart
Oh you must ask my father dear
Oh,Lilly-O
And you must ask my mother too Lilly-O, sweet heart And you must ask my sister Ann
Oh,Lilly-O

And you must ask my brother John Lilly-O, sweet heart I have asked your father dear Oh,Lilly-O
Oh,I have asked your mother too
Lilly-O sweet heart
And I have asked your sister Ann Oh,Lilly-O
Your brother John I did forget Lilly-O sweet heart
Her father let her down Oh,Lilly-O
Her mother led her to the door Lilly-O ,sweet heart
Her sister let her to the block Oh, Lilly-O
Her brother John to help her up Lilly-O, sweet heart
As she laid down to sleep Oh,Lilly-O
With his knife he stabbed her deep
Lilly-O, sweet heartAoh myoh oh my daughter deer Oh, Lilly-O Oh I must lay and die Lilly-O, sweet heart
They carried her up to ...Hill Oh,Lilly-O
Laid her down to write her will Lilly-O sweet heart
Oh,Lord will you Leave to your Father dear?
Oh, Lilly-O Lilly-O sweet heart
Oh,what will leave to your mother dear? Oh,Lilly -O
These bloody clothes
That I do wear Lilly-O sweet heart What will you leave to your sister Ann? Oh,Lilly-O
My silver rings and golden fan Lilly-O sweet heart
What will you leave to your brother John? Oh, Lilly-O
The rubin gallows to hang him on Lilly-O sweet heart
And what will to your brother John's wife? Oh, Lilly-O
Pain and sorrow all her life Lilly-O sweet heart And what will you leave to your brother John's son? Oh, Lilly-O
This great white world to longer upon Lilly-O sweet heart

Sam is a member of the Icelandic music collective/record label Bedroom Community. Folk music runs freely throughout the New England heartland of Vermont, and the Amidon family are a strong lifeline in that movement’s heritage. Both Sam’s parents, Peter and Mary are performers and teachers of music. Growing up in this solid environment with strong family ties most certainly set the scene for Sam’s musical trajectory.
