Listen to the Band Lyrics

Hey hey mercy woman
Plays a song and no one listens
I need help I'm falling again
Yeah, play the drum a little bit louder
Tell me I can live without her
If I only listen to the band
Listen to the bandWhoa weren't they good
They made me happy
I think I can make it aloneWhoa-oh mercy woman
Plays a song and no one listens
I need help I'm falling again
Yeah, play the drum a little louder
Tell me I can live without her
If I only listen to the band
Listen to the bandWhoah weren't they good
They made me happy
I think I can make it aloneYeah mercy woman
Plays a song and no one listens

I need help I'm falling again
Yeah, play the drum a little louder
Tell me I can live without her
Now that I have listened to the bandOh, weren't they good
They made me happy
I think I can make it aloneWhoa-oh mercy woman
Plays a song and nobody listenin'
I need help I'm falling again
Play the drum a little louder, Johnny
Tell me I can live without her
Now that I have listen to the band

Robert Michael Nesmith (born December 30, 1942) is an American singer-songwriter and musician, perhaps best known as a member of The Monkees. A pioneer of country rock, Nesmith notably composed "Different Drum", a hit for Linda Ronstadt (by way of The Stone Poneys). In 1981, Nesmith won the inaugural Grammy Award for Video of the Year for Elephant Parts, a "video record" consisting of humorous sketches and visual representations of songs, breaking new ground for the concept of music videos, which would shortly become ubiquitous with the advent of MTV.
