Living to Die - Bubonik Funk

The Band began in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2006. It Consists of Vocalist and Keyboardist Dylan Ellett, Guitarist Stefan Kallander, Drummer Daniel Allison and Bassist Nick McOwen. Bubonik Funk drew influence from pop bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Meters, Jimi Hendrix and Phish. Currently, Bubonik Funk plays venues in downtown Charlotte and universities along the East Coast. The foursome cut their first professional record, "OTB" E.P. in four days in the summer of 2008. The album was produced by the four band members and producer Dustin Hofsess. "OTB" received moderately good reviews, and the CD sold more than five hundred copies in the following weeks despite no official promotion or management.
The music of Bubonik Funk has been described as "the funk of the Red Hot Chili Peppers meets the experimentation of Radiohead and the free-form jamming of Phish." The band is particularly well known around Charlotte for their energetic live shows, and unpredictable stage antics. Lyrically, the singer coats his content in deep metaphor whilst still maintaining a groove and upbeat vibe. The solid Instrumentation drives each song, with a hardy rhythm section, a wailing wah guitar and a flailing vocalist preaching and howling with his baritone pipes.
Bubonik Funk is currently set to tour North Carolina extensively during the summer of 2009, in Cities like Wilmington, Asheville, Raleigh, Boone, Winston Salem and more.
