Lonely Night in Georgia Lyrics

Stoplights turn into skylines and my mind turns to you
Two hundred miles behind, off to this roadside dive
Wondering how this cup of coffee's gonna see me throughBut this has been our story
Same sad song
Ever since the day
The day you came alongIt's a lonely night in Georgia
And everything I do reminds me of being with you
Yes, it's a lonely night but I'll be alright
Girl, I'm comin' on home, comin' on home to you
Comin' on home to you, yeahSkylines turn into stoplights
Another town, another crowd
When all the peoples gone home
I'm left all alone with nothin' but you to think about, yeahBut this has been our story
I know you've heard it all before
'Cause every time I come home
You know I'm right back out that doorIt's a lonely night in Georgia
And everything I do reminds me of being with you
It's a lonely night but I'll be alright

'Cause I'm comin' on home, comin' on home to you, oh babyThe warmth of your body though these tall olden pines
The sound of your heartbeat brings your skin to mine
Your peach kisses ripened by your southern sun smile
Now my senses are heightened with the last hundred milesIt's a lonely night in Georgia
And everything I do reminds me of being with you
Oo, it's a lonely night but I'll be alright
'Cause I'm comin' on home, comin' on home to you
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeahIt's a lonely night in Georgia, yes it is baby
And everything I do reminds me of being with you
It's a lonely night but I'll be alright
'Cause I'm comin' on home, comin' on home to you, babyLong long long long long long long long, I've been gone so long
Long long, I've been gone so long
But don't you worry 'cause I'm coming on home
Coming on home, coming on home, coming on home
Coming on home, coming on homeYeah
Yeah
YeahDarling, darling, darling
Darling, darling, darling
Darling you're not out of love
Darling, baby, darling, baby
Darling, darling, I'll be loving you

Marc Broussard (born January 14, 1982) is an American singer and songwriter. The Louisiana native released his first major album (with Island Def Jam Records) on August 3, 2004. The album's title Carencro pays tribute to the musician's hometown of Carencro, Louisiana. His style is best described as "Bayou Soul," a mix of funk, blues, R&B, rock, and pop, matched with distinct Southern roots.

Marc is best known for the songs "Where You Are" and "Home." Broussard previously released several independent efforts, including 2002's Momentary Setback which spawned the hit "The Wanderer", a song about self discovery. A re-worked version of the song appears on Carencro. As of July 2005, "Home" was released as a single.

Although Broussard is rather unknown, he is characteristically known and critically praised for his strong vocals. However, he has garnered an uptick in popularity thanks to a snappy tune "Must Be The Water" which is featured in television commercials on TNT for the 2008 NBA All-Star game held in New Orleans.
