Lonesome Am I Lyrics

Lonesome is (am) I and I wished I could die
nobody cares for me;
Lonesome is (am) I and I wished I could die
nobody cares for me.
Oh darlin', oh dear
why did you leave me so,
give me the one light, moonlit night,
with the moon shinin' bright,
When you and I made love
You in love with my crew, I'll sail to you,
and I'll moan like a turtle dove
Lonesome is I and I wished I could die
nobody cares for me; (2x)

Im a' coming home, no more to roam,
Darling I'm coming home; (2x)
Lonesome is I and I wished I could die
nobody cares for me (2x)

John Smith Hurt, better known as Mississippi John Hurt (July 3, 1893 or March 8, 1892 - November 2, 1966) was an American country blues singer and guitarist. Raised in Avalon, Mississippi, Hurt taught himself how to play the guitar around age nine. Singing to a melodious finger-picked accompaniment, he began to play local dances and parties while working as a sharecropper. He first recorded for Okeh Records in 1928, but these were commercial failures.
